VOYEUR VOYEUR

The voyeur is a relationship developed between the private and public sector of the proposed building intervention to Japan Society. Here, not only is the work produced, in house, by the film center being screened but the producers, directors, filmmakers, etc. become a focal point on display to the public. To the Voyeur, the primary viewpoint and public space, rather than the theaters, becomes the emphasized void which grants them access to viewing the circulation paths of the private sector throughout the day.The proposed form was established primarily through a showcase and argument for the sculptural and cinematic potential of vertical circulation. A stair or ramp or elevator as Rem Koolhaas has argued, transports you to completely different worlds in the city of New York. How is this any different from the roll the theater plays for the consumer? In relation to establishing a profound connection to Japan Society rather than just nesting above, the call of arms given to vertical circulation is employed as a major visual establishment to the ground and existing structure by placing an emergency/ alternative after hours stair on the exterior main entrance facade. The top floor of Japan Society was also blown out and replaced with structure and a transparent facade to showcase the hybridizing connection
